As a graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy, I am honored to have the opportunity to nominate excellent young Virginians as candidates to the U.S. Military Academy, U.S. Naval Academy, U.S. Air Force Academy, and U.S. Merchant Marine Academy. To make this process open to as many young people as possible, I have established procedures that ensure a fair and objective assessment while producing the best-qualified candidates for the academies.
In order to be eligible for nomination, students must be at least 17 years old but not older than 22 years old (as of July 1 of the year of admission); they must be legal citizens of the U.S. as of November 1 of the application year; they must be unmarried with no legal obligations to support children or other dependents; and they must be legal residents of the Commonwealth of Virginia. If you meet these requirements, I welcome your application.
It is essential that you follow all of the steps in the application process in order to receive full consideration for nomination to a Service Academy. You may begin submitting application materials on May 1, 2009, and all of your information must be postmarked by October 31, 2009 for consideration for next summer's entering class. Late applications will not be accepted. Applications are available in hard copy or electronically via my website or via email.
